Beta Chan

Born and raised in Vancouver, Beta has been dancing for 12 years and hasn’t stopped since.  She trains in all styles of dance; jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, tap, ballet and pointe.  She was part of the half-day company at her studio dancing 20 hours a week for multiple years.  Throughout her competition years, she received numerous scholarships and awards.  She competed her solo at the Las Vegas dance awards and performed in the closing show.  This year, she was accepted into the Aviary Dance Company directed by Julio Fuentes, Moe Brody and Toni Shenfield. Beta is continuing to enhance her versatility in training and has had many opportunities to grow and learn from different choreographers around the world.

Beta had the opportunity to assist Sarah Dolan and Suzanne Ouellette at the Harbour summer Intensive this summer.  She has also taught in Hong Kong where she got to share her love of dance despite the language barrier.  Through her work on and off camera for ‘The Magicians’ (syfy) and ‘Overboard’ (MGM), Beta worked closely with choreographers Paul Becker, Mark Samuels and Jeff Dimitriou.  She has also worked closely with Sarah Brinson performing in the Cultural Architect Award’s opening number.  She is a dancer for PRP Productions and was recently cast in a music video.  This past fall, Beta signed a contract with the Vancouver Opera dancing in ‘Turandot’.

Beta is currently attending grade 12, she manages her time wisely- which has helped her to maintain a 95% average. She has a strong work ethic in everything she does whether it be school, dance, or acting. Acting is a new interest for Beta as dance has given her the necessary skills to delve into a character. Beta is a very dedicated and driven young lady and will go to any lengths to achieve her goals.
